Highlights of Experience

Bob Cohen has worked and consulted in the media, sports, and entertainment fields for over 30 years with an excellent record of achievement in domestic and international broadcasting operations, successful sports and entertainment ventures and served in various capacities in non-profit and civic organizations.

  • Currently working with domestic and foreign media, sports and entertainment businesses, research firms and packaged consumer goods businesses with assorted objectives
  • As President/CEO of International Radio for Clear Channel Communications, successfully produced growth in revenue and profits by focusing on innovation and top line revenue growth, new revenue initiatives, intelligent cost management, organizational efficiencies and performance, and new technologies, strategic acquisitions and divestitures across a division with operations and 240+ radio stations in eight different countries, 80+ markets and over 2,000 employees worldwide.  Business operations or consulting engagements in total of nine foreign countries including Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Peru.
    • Executed a variety of strategic initiatives developed to address operational objectives, capabilities and goals in each country’s individual business unit while performing to broader corporate objectives.  Demonstrated versatility in working with various joint venture partners, different business and societal cultures, wide assortment of industry regulatory environments and a variety of degrees of industry maturity.
    • Led and/or advised on international radio merger and acquisition activities including due diligence on new markets, discussions and negotiations with government representatives, tuck in acquisitions, and divestures
    • Active board of director participation within different country operating units and structures
  • Managed seven radio stations in major US media market.  Integrated new personnel teams post acquisition, launched new formats, grew market share and consistently improved billing and profitability.
  • Negotiated broadcast rights; flagship network negotiations and network management with franchises in Major League Baseball and National Basketball Association, Collegiate Athletics and Formula 1 Auto Racing promoters
  • Created, packaged, and sold broadcast sponsorship at all levels and various sports and entertainment properties; radio, television and print
  • Successful track record and achievements in various sports front office leadership roles in public and media relations, group and season ticket sales, speakers bureaus, sponsorship sales and broadcasting within organizations in the National Basketball Association and intercollegiate athletics
  • Managed broadcast talent in Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association and at the radio station level
  • On air play-by-play announcing experience in a variety of collegiate and professional sports
  • Extensive board of directors experience including chairman of college football bowl game focused on ticket sales growth, sponsorships, cable network broadcast rights negotiations and local market media partnerships; board of director experience with PGA Tour event focused on local media partnerships
  • Athletics committee advisory role at major Texas university introducing new Football Championship Division football program with support and emphasis on head coaching selection, marketing, media relations, broadcast rights, and Football Bowl Subdivision conference affiliation
  • Advisory capacity on curriculum and career development with students and faculty on national board of directors to major state university College of Media & Communication
  • Chaired state broadcast association board of directors; led industry political and lobbying initiatives, helped guide association staff on fundraising and business planning and chaired annual convention business meeting
